New design

From volume 150 on we use a new design for the cover and contents. The previous design with the purple cover (see below) was in use since 1990 (volume 133). The new cover and graphics of the text were designed by Maria Schilder (www.mariaschilder.nl). The graphic design maintains much of the former one, including the font A-Garamond, in a slightly more modern shape. Title, authors and abstract are in a more modern shape and redundant information is taken out of the title pages. The type page size is slightly larger. Compare sample papers for the previous design and the new design. A few editorial changes are also effective from this volume, see the guidelines.
The covers depicted here are just for the current volume, we plan a new standard design from volume 151 on. The front depicts colour reproductions at about 75% of colour plates in early volumes, which are explained on page 240 and page 488. The back shows text treatment of the journal in various years. Below also examples of various old covers of the journal.
